This is the front cover of the book Travelling People and the Tinkler Gypsies of Galloway, by Alyne Jones. Sheila Stewart the iconic singer from Perthshire identified them as the Reid Family. The story of the horse is interesting as it was probably super imposed after it’s death.  The campfire details are typical of scenes to be found all over Scotland at the beginning of the 20th Century.
